Description

12th of May is a national flag day in Finland, and it is held in honor of Johan Vilhelm Snellman, a man who spent the most of his life fighting for the rights of the Finnish language in a land where elite position and the only official language status was held by the Swedish-speaking minority. To commemorate that, I decided to put out six nice adoptable Finnhorses.

All art here is mine, so it's not for your use. Price is either 80 points for a design or a picture of your HARPG staff meeting with the horse they want to buy. Can also be bought as designs to other arpgs

Finnhorse is the only landrace horse breed that is native to Finland. It is a light-built draft or a stocky universal breed, and the most common colour of the breed is chestnut, often flaxen and mealy. Other possible colours are black, bay, roan, gray, cream, silver and splashed white - sometimes called "the Finnish Paint".
The Finnhorse is related to the Estonian Native horse, Swedish Gotland pony, the Russian Orlov trotter and the Northlands horse / Lyng pony of Norway. They have a very archaic look to them, big head and boxy body, but in the history of the breed some 18th century Friesian, Spanish and Oriental horses have supposedly been used in the breeding in small amounts.
Finnhorses are extremely versatile and are bred according to four stud book sections - Draft horse is the rarest, heaviest, and often tallest type; Trotter is a lean mean running machine, that is currently the fastest coldblooded draft trotter breed in the world; Riding horse is a more compact, well-built all-rounder horse with jumping records of 160 cm; Smallhorse is a pony-sized Finnhorse, and it is regarded as the original type of the breed. Many individuals of the breed are simultaneously registered in multiple sections, because they are just that awesome.
They jump, they do dressage, they pull a cart or logs of wood. They can be trained in western, they are amazing cross country and trekking horses. They do harness racing. Above all else, they are very hard-working, trustworthy animals.

THE HORSES

1 : MEALY FLAXEN RED CHESTNUT WITH A BLAZE
(Aa ee ff PaPa)
A very traditional look to this horse.
Calm manners, curious, shows some nice moves.
Maybe a dressage prospect?

Name suggestions for a mare: Blondin Kosto ("revenge of the blonde", translation for Legally Blonde), Liina ("linen", also a girl's name and a name for flaxen-maned horses), Niittyvilla ("field-wool", cottongrass)
Name suggestions for a stallion: Juhani ("john", the oldest and most stubborn of seven blonde brothers in Aleksis Kivi's "Seven Brothers"), Pikku-Eero ("little erik", the youngest and most cunning brother of the same novel), Artturi ("arthur", Finnish version of the name)

2 : SOOTY BAY WITH A STRIPE
(AA Ee nf)
Finnhorse of a very stunning darker colour.
Agile and willing to work, born of trotter parents.
Perhaps a hunter/jumper, eventer or trotter?

Name suggestions for a mare: Mansikki ("strawberry", a diminutive form of 'mansikka', meaning strawberry, a stereotypical name for a cow), Punamulta ("redsoil", earth with high percentage of iron, also redsoil paint), Lyhty ("lantern", also a name for wide splash-caused blazes on horses)

Intriguing look and a very cute sandy hue to this one.
Loud and fast, both on pasture and the arena.
Jumper? Eventer? Reiner? Could do anything, really.

5 : RED ROAN WITH A SOCK

Stubborn and suspicious, but powerful and agile.
Could be a trotter, an endurance horse or an eventer, perhaps.
- ON HOLD -
Name suggestions for a mare: Hämärä ("twilight, dim", also means curious, suspicious or strange), Norppa ("ringed seal", a name especially for the endangered Saimaa ringed seal), Kaunotar ("a beauty", for example in the Beauty and the Beast)
Name suggestions for a stallion: Tuulispää ("windy-head", a gust of wind, someone or something in a hurry), Jääräpää ("ram-head", a stubborn person or animal), Päällikkö ("upper one", a chieftain or a leader)

6 : MEALY GRAY-FLAXEN WITH BLUE EYES
(AA ee ff nSty nPa + hidden nSpl if you wish)
Another very traditional, soft-coloured horse.
Takes a while to trust people, very sure-footed and eager to learn.
Dressage, endurance, trail, trekking...? A multipurpose horse.
