Description

Okay everyone Herd-Of-The-Sleipnir is the thing I've been waiting for ages - I get to draw pretty viking horses running around forests! Say hi to my new boy:

Name: Murhes ("a sorrow", "a bother" or "a worry" in dialectal Finnish)
Age: 6 years
Breed: Finnhorse
Gender: stallion
height: 14.3 hh (150 cm)
Kingdom: South West Kingom of Holt
Level: 2

Appearance:
Color: Mealy flaxen chestnut, hidden Splashed White and sooty mane and tail, bay carrier, silver carrier
Genotype: ee Aa ff nSty nP nSpl nZ
Eye color: right eye brown, left eye blue (due to SW)
Accessories: a decorative belt with metal pendants around his neck
Build: A very compact and close-to-the-ground horse, with a big, coarse head and a heavy front. Despite this he is rather agile and sure-footed, and not a true large draft horse. Mane and tail are long, thick and wavy. Grows a thick winter coat. Has a few little scars from bites and kicks on his neck and shoulders.

Personality:

curious + strong-willed + patient
stubborn - spiteful - unsocial

Murhes is a rather calm and stoic gentleman, who rarely acts out with any violent reactions. He weighs his decisions carefully and has usually made up his mind already when he starts asking for opinions. It doesn’t stop him from being curious for new knowledge - if he has learnt anything over the course of his life, it’s that the gods of the island can always surprise you. It’s better to watch and learn than to regret it later.
From his proud mother and ambitious father Murhes has unfortunately also inherited a rather long-standing ability to be bitter and be unforgiving of others messing up his plans. He keeps carefully in mind those who he feels have wronged him, even if he rarely acts out in obvious anger. He can be civil and gracious to those he meets, but not an overly friendly or welcoming soul to complete strangers.

Backstory:

Small herd, old lead mother, seaside diet and a lot of young siblings. Murhes grew up to be both humble and stubborn from a very young age and his mother taught him all that she knew of edible plants, old stories and where the sweetest and clearest forest ponds and streams lay.
When his mother died of illness, Murhes and his brother from the same summer were chased away from the family group by their father, who was already sick and tired of his several male offspring. They trailed the herd for a while before talking about starting a little group of their own.

After his brother managed to sneak away with a young mare, his and Murhes' roads parted. On good enough terms, yes, but not in an extraordinarily warm way. If he should meet his brother again, Murhes wouldn’t be hostile, but he wouldn’t be overjoyed either.
